RV6A Final Assembly Page
This page will document the final assembly of my RV6A.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!
The Registration arrived today for N193RV. It won't
be long now.
JUST THINK,
NOW I GET TO PAY AIRCRAFT OWNER PROPERTY TAXES AGAIN.

Parts Storage
This is my patio out back. My wife just told me that she can't wait till I move to the airport. I
don't understand why. Look at all those beautiful finished parts

Carb Air Scoop Attachment
This is the method that I chose to attach the scoop to the bottom of the aircraft. Note that the fairing does not have the hinge riveted in yet. This turned out to be a very strong installation.
Nose Wheel Pant Installation
Did I ever say how much I hate fiberglass? Notice the heat gun in the backround. The drawings say do it this way and the pictures say do it that way. The fairing is not done yet but will be tomorrow 12-30-01. More pinholes than I ever saw in my life. How come you can build an entire airframe in a couple years and then the fiberglass takes another couple years?
The fiberglass has been completed!!!!!
On Saturday 5/11/02 the painting on N193RV was completed. Let the sanding and buffing begin. The next thing on my to do list is to complete the wiring firewall fwd. and start the interior. A couple more months of detail this and detail that and I might finish this thing.
Left Side of Cowling
I needed something to start the stripes and decided on this. Okay, yes it's a jet. If RV's had swept back wings you bet it would of been on there. I cut the graphic with my Stika Vinyl Cutter.
The Paint Booth Is Gone
Today I took the paintbooth apart and started to assemble things permanetly. The tail is on and all wires are run to the lights. Next the elevators go on and the stops will be installed. Wait a minute!!! Is this a hangar or a garage????????
Tail Fairing
It's all coming together. Things fit really well.
Inspection Hole
Here's a tip. If you have big hands like I do please make the hole big enough to get your hand in there. I had to get my wife to install all the lower bolts in the vertical.
Engine Baffles
You know I think that I could build an entire tail kit
faster than it takes to install a baffle kit.
Left Side Front View
Here's the oil cooler and plug wires on the left front side.
I still need to put in the support brace.
Oil Restrictor Fitting
I don't know if everyone knows about this very important fitting so I thought I would throw it on here. This is a oil restrictor fitting that is used in the oil pressure line. Make sure you install it on the engine. This fitting will buy you a few minutes if you blow an oil pressure line. You can make your own or get one from Van. By the way, try to install every fitting that goes on the back of your engine BEFORE YOU INSTALL IT.. I learned the hard way.
Graphic Engine Monitor (GEM)
This is my new toy, a Graphic Engine Monitor. I really like this one because it displays all EGT and CHT's at once. You can tell at a glance if something is out of sync. Why I chose the IK? Time will tell. I will report after I have had a chance to use it.
